HCI Rally to Market Bosworth
27th May 2021 to 1st June 2021 (5 nights)
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Due to expected Government Covid restrictions this rally will now be limited to camping only and the planned entertainment has had to be cancelled. However,
the site is located close to the town and bus route to Leicester and there are many signed walks in the area. It is a good cycling area too. Any members who had
booked have the opportunity to attend and will receive a partial refund of £40.
At Market Bosworth Rugby Club. Peter Milne, Margaret Foreman, Dave & Caroline Hanson, invite you to join them in rural Leicestershire, for the late May Bank Holiday weekend, 2021, for a relaxed and informal rally. The ancient town of Market Bosworth, dates back to the bronze age, received its royal charter from Edward 1, has a 14th century church and pub. Close by lies the site of the Battle of Bosworth Field of 1485, where Richard 111 became the last English King to be killed in battle on home soil. A mile to the west lies the Ashby canal and the preserved ‘Battlefield’ steam railway.
The rally site is all hardstanding and we have the use of the rugby clubhouse in the evening. Own sanitation is essential although the clubhouse toilets will be available in the evenings. The site lies approximately half a mile from the town with access through the adjacent country park. There are easy walks from the site and a bus stop 300yds from the site entrance. Mkt Bosworth has a small supermarket, pubs, cafes and other retailers. We are planning Afternoon Tea, games in the evenings and other things we can think up! The days will be for your own pleasure, but no doubt there will be an organised walk and/or Bike ride.
Attractions in the vicinity are the National Memorial Arboretum, Calke Abbey, Twycross Zoo and Drayton Manor theme park. Derby and Burton upon Trent lie to the north and Leicester to the east. All this will cost you the ‘Princely’ (geddit?) sum of £75 per unit.
Please send your completed HCI Rally application form and cheque to : Mr Peter Milne, 17 Linnet Crescent, Brandon, Suffolk IP27 0YL
Please mark your cheque and envelope ‘Mkt Bosworth’

Also nearby is the Canal River Trust Museum and a coffee shop.
The site itself does not have EHU but there is plenty of fresh water, plus grey and black waste disposal points. Rubbish will be your own responsibility as we have to leave the site clean.

- A Fish & Chip van will be visiting the site one evening.

HCI Rally - ‘ON SHANKS’ PONY’ Odstone, Leicestershire
16th to 21st June 2021 (5nts)
Roger & Sue Bishop and Ann & Paul Clarke invite you to join them for a relaxing sojourn in some lovely countryside. As suggested by the name, this rally is primarily designed for those who enjoy walking in a quiet rural location and will be limited to 15 units. The hamlet of Odstone stands on high ground between two river valleys some 3.5 miles from Shackerstone and, with many signed footpaths, is ideal countryside for walking.
The site, Brook Cottage, is a well tended dog friendly C&CC CS on the edge of the hamlet 2.5 miles from Shackerstone the home of the Battlefield Heritage Railway. There are many well signed footpaths close to the site including Ivanhoe Way and the Leicester Round and part of the National Cycle Routes system passes the site. In addition to the normal basic facilities there is a toilet and washing facilities. EHU is available if required for an additional charge. However, if you wish to travel further afield own transport is required as there is no local bus service and the nearest shops are at Ibstock (2 miles).
This will be a ‘free and easy’ rally with the opportunity to join us on daily walks of between 4 and 6 miles.
