HCI 2022 Dinner Dance Rally and 29th Annual General Meeting

Wednesday 4th May to Sunday 8th May, 2022 (4 nights) Springfields Events and Conference Centre, Camelgate, Spalding, Lincolnshire. PE12 6ET.

The site opens at 10am on Wednesday 4th and close at 2pm on Sunday 8th.

For the shopaholics there is a 45 acre 50 outlet shopping centre adjacent to the rally site.(To obtain up to an extra 10% discount download the free VIP app – go to www.springfieldsoutlet.co.uk). The cooks can have a weekend off as there are over 11 food outlets in the complex serving breakfast, lunch & dinner.

For the green fingered, 15 acres of prize winning festival gardens (those with walking difficulties there is a road train). In addition, Spalding is a 25 minute stroll away, catch a bus or take a leisurely water taxi ride to the town

THE RALLY PROGRAMME:

  • Wednesday evening – Open welcoming meet with social quizzes to follow. Bar open.
  • Thursday. A day visit to Kings Lynn should there be sufficient interest. The evenings entertainment will be provided by the band Blue Horizon starting at 8pm.
  • Friday . Free morning with the AGM at 2pm prompt please. Ensure you have your membership card with you. Social and quizzes in the evening.
  • Saturday. Free day with the Dinner Dance from 6.30pm with music provided by Keith Slater

Should enough members express an interest an overnight stay may be available on the Sunday evening for a small extra charge, but the site will need to be vacated by 12.00 noon on Monday. A booking form for this rally along with the dinner menu will be available in the January 2022 newsletter.

Please bring your membership card with you as it may need to be produced at the entrance.

Booking of the meal will not be a prerequisite of attendance at the rally however there will be a 150 van limit.

HCI Rally to the Bargees Junction - Great Haywood

17th to 22nd May 2022 (6 nights) 

Roger & Sue Bishop and Pep & Sally Heffer invite you to join them in Staffordshire at the White Lodge campsite, Great Haywood. This site lies on the edge of Cannock Chase and is immediately adjacent to the National Trust Shugborough Estate. Within 100 metres lies the busy junction where the Trent and Mersey canals meet. This area offers lovely signed walks and cycling opportunities and to visit the imposing Shugborough Hall which dates back to the 1600s. Opposite the junction is a large garden centre with a very good café and there are pubs in the village. This 6 night rally is limited to 25 units and will be on a relaxed ‘free and easy’ basis. It includes a coach trip to the very moving National Memorial Arboretum soon to enter its 21st year. On the visit there will be a land-train tour with commentary in the morning leaving you plenty of time for lunch in the restaurant or to picnic and to wander at your leisure through the woodland landscape with its collection of nearly 400 memorials each with its own moving story. 

There will be walks and cycle trips arranged and, needless to say, games and quizzes (no window quiz!! ). The ‘Coffee & Natter’ tent will be available daily. The rally fee does not include EHU. However, there are 4 electric hook -ups available on a first come first serve basis at a daily cost of £5. If you wish to have EHU please ensure you indicate this on your application form. You will be charged separately for these.

HCI Rally to Market Bosworth

25th May 2022 to 30th May 2022 (5 nights) at Market Bosworth RUFC

Peter Milne, Margaret Foreman Dave and Caroline Hanson invite you to join them in rural Leicestershire, for the late May Bank Holiday weekend for a relaxed and informal rally at the ancient town of Market Bosworth. The town dates back to the bronze age and received its Royal Charter from Edward 1. It has a 14th century church and pub and lies close to the site of the 1485 Battle of Bosworth Field where Richard 111 became the last English King to be killed in battle on home soil.
A mile to the west lies the Ashby canal and the preserved ‘Battlefield’ steam railway. The rally site is all hardstanding and we have the use of the clubhouse in the evening. Own sanitation is essential although the clubhouse toilets will be available in the evenings. The site lies approximately half a mile from the town with access through the adjacent country park. There are easy walks from the site and a bus stop 300yds from the site entrance. Attractions in the vicinity include the National Memorial Arboretum, Calke Abbey, Twycross Zoo and Drayton Manor theme park. Derby and Burton upon Trent lie to the north and Leicester to the east. Mkt Bosworth has a small supermarket, pubs, cafes and other retailers.
As the following weekend is ‘The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee’ expect some right Royal goings on! The Sparkling Afternoon Tea is confirmed, a street party, games in the evenings and other things we can think up!
The days will be for your own pleasure, but no doubt there will be organised walks and/or bike rides. Unfortunately Camping costs have risen for next year, but all this for right Royal fun is now £90 per unit.

HCI Rally at the Appletree Motorhome & Campervan Show at the New Forest Show Ground

To celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee join the HCI rally at the Appletree Show 31st May – 5th JUNE 2022 (7nts) 

Appletree Exhibitions are running a Motorhome & Campervan Show at the New Forest Show Ground near Brockenhurst from 3rd to 5th June 2022 with camping available for 7 nights from 30th May to 5 June. This is over the weekend of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with planned events throughout the weekend including afternoon teas, live music and a big screen to show live coverage of the Jubilee. There will be evening entertainment on 3rd, 4th and 5th.

IMPORTANT Pete Smith is planning to run an HCI Rally at the show with our own camping area and, if there is sufficient interest from members, he will lay on a few extras during the week at a separate cost. HCI Pentewan Sands Holiday Rally

Saturday 18th June to Friday 1st July 2022 (14 Nights)

Shirley and Nick Hardey and Paul and Doreen Holt cordially invite you to join them on the beach at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park, South Cornwall between St Austell and Mevagissy. This is a 5 Star site with its own private beach. Located on a main bus route (don’t forget your bus pass) with a cycle track to St Austell and the Eden Project passing the site entrance and also the opportunity to take the train from St Austell to explore Poldark country. There are great walks too from the site along the South West Cliff Path to the quaint old fishing village of Mevagissy or to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. This will be a very relaxed pace rally with just a few organised activities including our traditional ’Cornish Lunch’ with pasties and a Cornish Afternoon with a cream tea. As in previous rallies there will probably be a quiz or two! We have booked 25 pitches for the rally and these will be all together. Pitches are large and will easily accommodate the largest Hymer, plus awnings etc. Each pitch has electric hook-up and water tap adjacent.  The rally fee will be £410 for 14 nights (departing Saturday 2nd July) . However, this is considerably less than the normal fee for this standard of site and its location.

HCI Rally to Ambleside RUFC, Lake District National Park

23rd to 30th July 

Paul and Doreen Holt and Dave and Linda Stonier invite you to join them in the heart of the English Lake District. This 7-night Rally is to be held on the Playing Field at Ambleside Rugby Club by kind permission of their committee. Lat/Long 54.425461,- 2.967437 ///cargo.nosedive.luxury 

The field which has superb views in all directions is situated on the outskirts of Ambleside, just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of town and the landing stage at Lake Windermere. (The nearest large Supermarket is Booths at Windermere by the Railway Station). There are numerous attractions within a few minutes’ walk from the field including the ruins of the Roman Fort of Galava, Waterhead Boat Landing and Steamer Trips on Windermere. Should you wish to go sightseeing don’t forget to bring your bus pass, Bowness, Grasmere, Coniston, Kendal and Keswick are all within reasonable distance. For the walkers amongst us, the high fells are all around with Loughrigg, Wansfell and Fairfield Horseshoe are all possible from the field. Ambleside has plenty of outdoor shops and lots of pubs and hotels. 

The rally is free and easy, but we will be leading a couple of walks from site for anyone interested, one to Grasmere via the Coffin Trail and a further walk to Grasmere around Rydal Water. Return from Grasmere can be made by public transport. 

We are also planning to organise a group scenic boat trip on the lake, this would be around £11pp. Please indicate on your booking form if you are interested. We are also hoping to organise a fish and chip van together with an evening “Pirate BBQ” and an afternoon “Pimm’s” garden party. 

Please note, there is no EHU, but emergency charging will be possible. We will be providing waste and re-cycling facilities.

HCI French Rally to Le Coin & Le Cherve

4th  – 20th SEPTEMBER 2022 (16Nts)

Without going into the day by day events, the rally (16 Nights ) will briefly consists of the following activities……. 

Le Coin:- Arrive 4th Sept – Depart 15th Sept (11 Nights ). and will include 6 various meals, video show, a coach trip to a wine area, guided tour of the local area, coach/boat trip to Castle/Museum and an Inaccessible Gorge (except by boat of course ). There will be at least 6 free days to enjoy our own activities such as boules, cycle rides and motorbike rides and walking etc.

La Chevre:- Arrive 15th Sept – Depart 20th Sept (5 Nights). The area , we are told, is quite stunning and perfect for hiking, walking, or cycling to other local areas. There is also a small Brewery and a Lavender farm locally open to visitors. The site restaurant is very good but does not have the capacity for a large group as we wanted. It may be a good opportunity for an American Supper?

HCI Thursford Christmas Spectacular

20th – 24th November 2022 (5Nts)

Once again HCI will be returning to the truly wonderful Thursford Christmas Spectacular in 2022. Vic Avery, our late President, was a great proponent of this show. It is an extremely popular seasonal variety show with coach loads coming from all over the country. Those members who have been fortunate to go before will testify to its magnificence.
Located in the heart of Norfolk just 8 miles from Fakenham. This five night rally commences at The Thursford Collection on Sunday 20th November 2022 for a 7pm show with Ralliers parked for one night on the Thursford Show Car Park. (NO FACILITIES).

The Rally then moves to Fakenham Racecourse Caravan Site and we will spend the following four nights on hard standing with electric hook-up. We have the use of a room in the Stand for the first three evening social gatherings and we have booked to have a two course early Christmas dinner on the Thursday evening, also in the Stand.
A free and easy rally, we will try to set up a ‘Town Quiz’ for you, there is a Golf course on site along with a Café which is open to all. We have restricted numbers to 20 units overall. As we expect this to be popular, places will be on a first come first served basis. A reserve list will operate.
