HCI Rally to Bridgenorth

Saturday 11th April to Friday 17th April (6 Nights)

Pete and Maggie Milne, assisted by Nigel and Teresa Goodricke, request the pleasure of your company to start the rally season at Bridgnorth Caravan Park on a free and easy 6 night Rally in the beautiful Shropshire countryside, yet only a 15 minute walk from the historic market town of Bridgnorth.
Bridgnorth dates back to a Danish settlement in 895AD and consists of the Low Town on the east bank of the River Severn which leads over the bridge to the
High Town on the west side which are conveniently connected by the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway as seen in the header picture. There are the remains of
a Norman castle, a 17th century Town Hall on the High Street, and the Severn Valley Railway which runs through the valley to Kidderminster. Ale houses,
pubs and restaurants abound.
Bridgnorth Caravan Park is situated on the banks of the River Severn with a large rally field so there is no limit on numbers. There is no indoors area so gatherings will be weather dependent. There will be the usual meet and greet; a Town Quiz on the Saturday and other, yet to be arranged, activities.
Although the rally is for 6 nights we thought that to encourage those of you who may still be working there will be a 2 night option of the Saturday and
Sunday. The rally site will open at 10:30am.
Rally Fee:
6 nights (per unit) £85 (Saturday to Friday) or
2 nights (per unit) £30 (Saturday & Sunday)

HCI Rally to Abingdon

Borrans Road LA22 0EN N54.42549118, W2.9676517 “

3rd – 10th July 2026

Round Ambleside you will indeed find hills and waterfalls – decked with greasy sandwich papers and porter bottles, and the hills echo with the whistles of the Windermere steamers . . . brass bands play under your hotel windows, char-a-bancs, wagonettes and brakes of all colours rattle about with cargoes of tourists who have been ‘doing’ some favourite round. Touts pester you in the streets and in the hotel coffee room you overhear a gentleman ask angrily, “Why don’t they build an ‘ut on ‘elvellyn – they’ve got one on Snowdon.” Charles Dickens.

Pete and Maggie assisted by Roger, invite you to return with them for a seven night rally in the heart of the Lake District at Ambleside Rugby Club. Bedfordshire Steam Rally

17th to 21st September 2026 (4 Nights)

This year we are stepping into Peter and Barbara Smith’s shoes to run the rally at the Bedfordshire Steam and Country Fayre. This event has been enjoyed by many HCI members, including ourselves. The Rally fee this year is £195 per double unit of 2 and £138 per single unit. And includes 4 nights camping plus entry to the Fayre all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This superb Steam & Country Fayre is held in the picturesque setting of Old Warden Park, home of the world famous Shuttleworth Collection housed in its own museum. The much-photographed Victorian Country House, built by the Shuttleworth family in the late 1870s, provides a magnificent backdrop to this event.

The Rally fee includes an entry ticket for the world famous Shuttleworth Collection which includes Shuttleworth House, the Swiss Gardens and the Aircraft and Vehicle Museum (this ticket can only be used once).

Saturday night is the real highlight of the weekend with the steam engines and fairground lit up and you can enjoy rides and all the fun of the fair. Attracting over 15,000 visitors each year, the Bedford Steam Engine Preservation Society aims to give an insight into country life at the turn of the 20th Century when steam was in its hey-day. Many working demonstrations are taking place wherever you may care to roam on the 400 acre site. See their website https://bseps.org.uk for more detailed information.

As well as the magnificent steam and vintage vehicles, there will be the wonderful heavy horse displays, working dogs and birds of prey displays. Something for everyone. Arrival is Thursday afternoon. We are organising a meal in the Crawley Restaurant, a marquee for the Thursday evening. This is not included in the Rally fee and is entirely optional. Menu details and cost to follow and to be paid for on the evening. A full bar will also be available. As before, we will be in our own camping area, a short walk to the rally field and next to the beautiful Swiss Gardens. There will be a fresh water point and an elsan dump but no EHU . Dogs are welcome but on leads.
